Same here,, glad to finish,, not quite the time I was hoping for. The 1/2 Marathon Pro field caught me on the last lap,, which gave me a new perspective on things! Really fun course, not that technical, just a few sharp turns that come up really quick. Still need to work on my hydration/fuel strategy,,,how to get more fuel and stay on the bike. I seemed to catch people on the climbs and it was a little harder to pass there.
From Bob....Ouch. I had a good training ride, but didn't finish. I second much of what Pat had to say except I stopped about 80 miles in at our only watering hole for the course. I'm not sure if I cooled off too much or what, but I got a bunch of crud in my lungs....continued on for the next 40 miles in the winds Pat described...coughing more and getting slower and slower. Somewhere after 3pm I pulled the plug a little outside of Elbert at 120, hitched a ride there and called my sweet wife to come rescue me. Enjoyed a hot drink and food at gas station with seating. Decided I didn't want to do another 30 to 40 miles with climbing back up to the divide like Pat the monster. Great effort Pat!
